Fuchs North America Introduces the "Island Inspirations Collection" of Seasonings, Bases and Flavors
March 8, 2018 – Fuchs North America, a leading maker of seasonings, flavor systems and taste solutions for the food manufacturing, retail and foodservice industries, introduces the Island Inspirations Collection – a new line of tropical inspired seasonings, bases and flavors. The collection’s 4 vibrant and flavorful seasonings offer new twists on popular dishes and flavors from islands around the world.
Among the collection’s offerings are seasonings and blends for proteins, snacks and dairy. These items are also the starting point for food manufacturers and foodservice establishments to develop their own unique signature product offerings, with Fuchs’ culinary specialists at their side.
The New Collection

In introducing the collection, Shannon Cushen, Fuchs’ director of marketing, explained the strategy behind the collection. “Caribbean, Filipino and Hawaiian foods and flavors have been trending recently, due to adventurous consumers with a curiosity about foods from faraway places,” she observes.
“Especially during stressful times, consumers are looking for an escape. Our newest collection will transport consumers to a tropical paradise, one bite at a time,” Cushen adds.
Fuchs helps food companies make sense of the trends and tap into where the culinary energy is strongest. In this spirit, each of the items that make up Fuchs’ Island Inspirations Collection features innovative and mouthwatering flavors that will liven up any menu item or product.
Craveable Milkshake Seasoning
Elizabeth Landry, CEC, Fuchs’ corporate executive chef, worked to develop blends that will keep consumers coming back for more. “Our Caribbean Style Coconut Curry Milkshake Seasoning mingles sweet and savory with luscious coconut and fragrant spices, such as cardamom and ginger, for an invigorating and addicting blend that you can add to ice cream and milkshakes,” Lindemer describes.
Flavorful Snack Seasoning
Inspired by a popular Filipino condiment, we’ve joined slightly sweet banana with flavorful tomato, sweet-scented spices, aromatic garlic and a hint of vinegar for our Filipino Style Banana Ketchup Snack Seasoning, which is perfect for chips, popcorn or nuts.
Palatable Protein Seasoning
Hawaii serves as the inspiration behind our Hawaiian Style BBQ Turkey Burger Seasoning. “A perfect combination of sweet, tangy and smoky, we mixed tart and juicy pineapple with rich molasses, savory onion and garlic, aromatic spices, bright vinegar and just a little smoke for a sensational seasoning that’s sure to please the crowds!,” Lindemer explains.
Shareable Dip Seasoning
Not only is our San Juan Style Sofrito Dip Seasoning particularly on-trend, but it’s also quickly become a favorite at the Fuchs headquarters. According to Lindemer, “Slightly different from a sofrito that you might find in the Mediterranean or Italy, in Puerto Rico you will find that the sofrito is made with an enticing blend of roasted bell peppers, savory onion and garlic and finished with a touch of bright jalapeno and cilantro. We’ve used this as inspiration to create a seasoning to be added to sour cream for a seriously addictive dip!”
Custom Solutions, Too
According to Ken Wuestenfeld, vice president of sales and technical services, the strategy behind all of Fuchs’ offerings like the Island Inspirations Collection is to help food manufacturers and foodservice establishments create irresistible new items that build on culinary traditions, but that are also unique.
As Wuestenfeld explained, the development process is a combination of science and art. “We stay on top of consumer taste trends. Our goal is to help food companies develop new taste sensations that they can call their own – offerings that are unique and stand out.”
With each customer, Fuchs North America goes from conception to manufacturing to delivery of an approved flavor as quickly as possible. “We have a wide range of flavor bases at the ready, and, as a result, we can provide samples for immediate testing. Then we customize and refine the flavor to attain exactly the taste characteristics our customer is seeking,” Wuestenfeld reports.
Doing so means that taking a food or flavor idea from concept to delivery can often be accomplished in a matter of weeks or even less time. “Especially when under tight product development timeframes, being able to support customers with that kind of rapid schedule is a huge benefit,” Wuestenfeld emphasized.
