With this in mind, when we were developing our newest collection, we decided to lean into one cuisine in particular that has seen steady growth among adventurous and non-adventurous consumers alike. We are excited to introduce the Indian Inspirations Collection, which showcases the vibrant flavors of India! Keep reading to learn about the inspiration behind this new collection and the seasoning blends that we created to reflect the craveable flavors found in some of India’s most sought-after dishes.
Finding Inspiration through Indian Cuisine
Regional and global food trends have taken off over the last few years, and with consumers interested in finding affordable ways to explore the world and expand their horizons, food brands in all categories have the perfect opportunity to create products that allow consumers to experience global flavors without having to leave home. From beverages and baked goods to snacks and sauces, the possibilities are endless when it comes to developing global inspired food products to meet consumers’ demands.
Due to the wide range of options for both flavors and applications, narrowing down the seasonings in this collection proved to be one of the more difficult tasks for our team. We arrived at our final decision by choosing to showcase seasonings that highlighted a variety of flavors found throughout India, while also ensuring the collection was versatile enough to be used, or modified to be used, in as many product categories as possible.
Our R&D and marketing teams created and tasted many authentic Indian dishes to draw inspiration for the seasonings in this collection. Ultimately, we wanted to recreate the popular Indian flavors that consumers are craving, while also crafting seasonings that feature other trending flavor profiles and ingredients. Each of the seasonings in this collection showcases common flavors found in Indian cuisine, but with our own twists that are sure to impress consumers of all ages.
Our Featured Seasonings
Aloo Tikki Seasoning
Our Aloo Tikki Seasoning was designed specifically for the traditional Indian dish, Aloo Tikki. Aloo Tikki is a potato patty that is mashed together with seasonings, then shallow or deep fried to give it a deliciously crispy coating. Our Aloo Tikki Seasoning gives this dish a perfectly balanced flavor profile filled with spices that bring the heat without overpowering the overall flavor.
Kolmi/Kalmi Fry Seasoning
Showcased on fried shrimp, our Kolmi/Kalmi Fry Seasoning is perfect for all kinds of proteins including chicken, steak, and other types of seafood. This blend creates a delectable savory flavor with a hint of heat that will leave consumers craving more.
Rose Water and Cardamom Seasoning
Featuring a subtle sweetness, our Rose Water and Cardamom Seasoning rounds out this collection! Although we developed this seasoning for corn cakes, its flavor profile could be applied to other baked goods, snacks, and more. While tasting our corn cake recipe, a Gen Alpha guest taster exclaimed that this corn cake “tastes like a rainbow!”
Why Indian Cuisine?
The eagerness among consumers to see products highlighting international cuisines is undeniable. Indian cuisine has quickly become
one of the most popular global cuisines, having been in demand lately for its bold flavors, use of trending spices, and abundant vegan and vegetarian options. According to Mintel, 32% of Millennials are consuming Indian cuisine. In addition, 27% of consumers indicated that they hadn’t tried but were interested in trying cuisine from the Kerala region in India.
Allowing consumers to use food as a means of exploration by bringing the flavors of faraway places to familiar products is an easy and effective way to grab consumers’ attention.
